205/80-15 ??
Maybe I am getting a little carried away here, but I figured if I am going to mess with the circumference of my tire, and in that, the mileage and speedometer I might as well get it closer than it is. I have calculated that it is presently about 8.25% off. Speedo reads 80, actually 73. So, in playing with some math, I figured I need a tire that has a circumference of 88.5" Then armed with that I plugged a bunch of tire sizes into the tire calculator and came up with a 205/80-15 as the closest with a circ of 87.7. This tire would be a full 1.1 inches taller than stock and .9 inches taller that the 205/70. That would seem to be the only possible issue. So, I ask those whom have gone before (and know more about it than I)...... Anybody think this is doable???
Thanks

That would be a very tall tire if you can find someone that makes one that size. (I couldn't)
I don't know if it would fit or not. I dont know what bike your riding. I looked at a 75 series and thought it was big. I just wanted to stay close to the stock size. I'm sure Twin or someone else with more knowledge than I will be along shortly.....Good luck...

If you even find a tire that size, your also going to need a grinder. Or need a ridged rear end.

Here's my concern!!!! The taller you get the car tire the more you can lean the bike and the possibility of getting too much off the contact patch and onto the side wall. The reason why our car tires works so good it because of our limited lean angle with the added grip.
If you are so concerned about the speedo being off....put a speedo healer on your X!
What we do is controversial at the least, but I don't want this to get away from it's original intent of finding the best tire to keep us the safest on the road and NOT to fix the speedo's. That puts you on a different course and possibly some safety issues.

Re: 205/80-15 ??
+ 1 on what twin said.
I have a 150 up front on my S and I dont scrap the floor board with that on, because it lifted the bike up. That being said, I am aware of it and use caution, because I am higher than the other bikes. Although I have scraped the boards with the 150 on, and I puckered a little. Use caution when makeing a change to bikes. Even the 205 70 15 grabber will lift the back up a little.

87.7 ? that works out to be 27.9 inch tall tire , i have a 26.2 inch tall tire and it takes out the speedometer to only 3mph so be careful with the extremes

Thanks
Thanks. It seemed a little too much, but I needed to bounce it off somebody with experience. Picked up a Douglas 205/70-15 this afternoon and will get it installed tomorrow.
