side covers

Hi, my name I James and I'm a troll here..... ok enough of the intro
I was looking at a couple of different exhausts on the market and was wondering if the R style side covers with the cut out will fit a C model

2004 vtx 1800 c bridgstone potenza (unsure of the size ill have to go look) 1300 final

Don't know.....haven't thought about it. I own an 1300 C, it must be an 1800 thing that I am not familiar with. What's the reason for the changing of the side cover, so the pipes will fit?????

Hey James, Yes, I've heard the mounting holes on the frame are the same, and it's a simple swap.

I think the C side covers are smaller on the o4 and older C models....

Try one from someone to be sure, before you order some, you may need 03 R only. Post on the other board (vtxoa) and you should get more info from an actual swapper.

the reason is because i like the swept back style of the R exhaust pipes rather than have the rear pipe turn around the transmission.

Hey James, That's a common swap I've seen info about on the other board. I like the look of the R style pipes better also, but performance wise, C style is better because the pipes are equal length and there's more availability for equalizer chambers that give you the 2 into 1, increased scavenging effect. If the pipes you go with use the stock mounting bracket, I believe you'll need one from an R.
