Fitted up a Kumho Run Flat
G'day fellow Darksiders, My name is Bob and I come from a land down under (good name for a song) I have just fitted a Kumho Run Flat 195 x 55 x 16 to our brand new GL 1800. We are leaving on a 9,000 Km trip in early August and are towing a trailer so I knew the MCT would not last the distance. Having gone Darkside on my previous Triumph Rocket 111, I thought I would give it a go on the Wing as well.
Heaps smoother than the MCT, and to be truthfull, if you didn't know there was a CT on there, you wouldn't pick it. The CT doesn't feel any different than the MCT on the wing.
Regards Bob

Been awhile since I've been logged on here, but the trip is done and a trip report can be viewed here,

It's a lot easier to read it here than link another 60 pics on this forum.
The trip went great, and we did nearly 13,000 Km's in 30 days. The tyre did everything from 180Kmph highways @ 36 degree C temps to -2 degree black ice mountain roads.
Plenty of tread left on the tyre and could easily do another two trips of simular distance.
We have sold the Goldwing now and are waiting on a new 09 Ultra Classic Electra Glide Harley. Hopefully with the new 180mm rear tyre on the new 09 baggers, I will be able to go darkside on the new Harley as well.
Regards Bob

Re: Fitted up a Kumho Run Flat
This is the same tire I'm running.... Love it! Recently took her to Arkansas and did 4 days and over 1,400 miles... Love it Love it Love it!!!
Here's my setup:
2006 Titanium GL1800 Gold Wing
Front: Bridgestone Battlax BT 45 130/70/18 @ 38 psi w/Dynabeads
Rear: Kumho ECSTA RF 195/55/16 @ 32 psi w/Dynabeads
Why use a Car Tire?
20 reasons to use a car tire. (So Far!)
1. Available in Run Flat.
2. Longer lasting.
3. Doesn't delaminate.
4. Doesn't explode.
5. Quieter.
6. Better traction in dry.
7. Better traction in wet.
8. Better traction in snow/slush.
9. Better performance on dirt/gravel.
10. Better traction when braking.
11. Smoother ride.
12. Higher load capacity.
13. Capable of higher PSI.
14. Capable of performing with lower PSI.
15. Runs at lower tire temperature.
16. Costs less.
17. Better balanced (fewer weights required, if any at all)
18. It looks way cooler than that skinny OEM MC tire.
19. The more we ride on a CT, the more it bothers the naysayers.
20. You can buy a 195/55/16 or a 205/55/16 almost any where tires are sold. Might not be a RUN FLAT. But a tire to get on down the road.

My first CT on my Goldwing
i have a 2007 Goldwing and just mounted my first CT on it today..Its Kumho Runflat 195/55-16..Only got to ride it about 50 miles some highway and some twisties and so far I am very pleased with it. It rides great, handles excellent and I couldn tbe more pleased. Took me over a year over reading the pros and cons about before making the leap to the darkside. Still playing around with the air pressure looking for that sweet spot..Tire shop had put 60lbs in it and after lowering it to 37lbs it felt great..heading out to the N GA mtns this weekend to give it a good workout.
