Missing in America Project Ride 4/24/09

Post  Doc Rogers on Mon Apr 27, 2009 4:48 pm

Ended up riding over 425 miles for this. They estimate between 650-800 bikes showed up for this event.

For those of you who are haven't heard, Missing in America Project is a group that is trying to locate and bury the unclaimed cremated remains of veterans in funeral parlors across the US. Some may have not been able to be identified until recently, others were just never claimed and long forgotten on a shelf in some funeral home.

This Friday we put a total of 7 Iowa vets to rest. Between them they had served in WW2, Korea and Viet Nam. Below is a video of the bike escort leaving the funeral home on its way to the new Veterans cemetery in Van Meter, Ia.

Look for me on the silver VTX 1300R at 1:25 into the video. (White shirt, black skid-lid) It was an honor to escort these fallen heroes to their final resting place.
