Sunday Mornin' Hope : Friends
Riding home tonight after a fairly lengthy day in the saddle, I stopped in at a gas station for gas. The man behind the counter was always friendly, so I introduced myself to him. I asked him his name and he said, "Stanley, Why, Am I in trouble?" I said, "No, You just are a great worker here." Then he replied, "It's people like you that make this job worth coming to."
Friday I headed up to "The Hub" in Jasper, AR to meet up with a few friends from Biker Haven. It had rained all thursday night and much of friday morning. I was determined not to let the weather cancel the trip.
When I finally got there, they had all gone for a ride. I walked in the front door of a huge meeting hall. People greeted me like I was a president! Handshakes and hot coffee from the time I got there. They were the GWTA reps. I was impressed with their friendliness. They saw my wing and assumed I was part of their flock. Director Dr. Wiliferd greeted me and invited me to come with them to dinner. The GWTA motto is "Destination Friendship" and they really live up to that. We had a great dinner ride and fellowship.
Back at The Hub I met up with my intentioned party. We shared lots of stories and became good friends. I'm sure some of the tales were "tall". Someone mentioned goats and everyone started laughing. That's what friends do. They know the jokes so well, just the topic mentioned brings laughter.
Jesus chose 12 men for friends. Knowing everything, He still chose them.
Joh 15:13 -
"Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.
Joh 15:14 -
"You are My friends if you do what I command you.
Joh 15:15 -
"No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you.
I believe Jesus joked with His 12 disciples often. The Bible says He "joys over us with singing". So He MUST have a good sense of humor. Look in the mirror- see? JK
I hope this week you will make new friends with those you see often (but are too "busy" to introduce yourself) and let them know they're doing a good job. Who knows, you could be the one that keeps them from going over the edge. They might even buy you a cup of Joe. Make Jesus your friend for life. His friendship never stops.
