Vulcan Tires

Post  madmaxvol on Thu Mar 12, 2009 7:54 am

I have a '98 Vulcan 1500A. The stock rear tire is a 150/80-15. I've heard of people installing up to a 170/80-15 without any rubbing issues. I've been planing on turning to the Darkside as well. With that in mind, I've looked around a bit to see what might be available to fit our bikes. I don't have a lot of info on these tires, so bear that in mind.

Kumo Power Star - 165/80-15
B.F. Goodrich Radial T/A - 155/80-15

These were both listed as optional tire sizes for early '00s Mini Coopers. I haven't checked for 16" options (which would pertain to your bike), but you may want to look and see if there was a 16" option on the Mini. Their tires are small enough that they might fit the bill.

I'm still looking around a bit to see what else is out there. I've had friends who have spoken very well of Kumo tires, and I've run the Goodrich Radial T/As personally (on a car instead of a bike). Right now, I've still got a few miles left on my Metzlers...so it may be a while before I make the change. I'll post an update when I find more info, and when I make the change.

Hey you guys check-out this link [ http://darkside.nwff.info/OEM2DS.htm ] it should answer any ?'s about size CT you should need, wish I would have seen it before I put my CT on my 1600, put a 205/65-16 and its a too close to the drive tube (not rubbing or anything) but it is close, looks B A D though and rides awesome! Hope this helps. [GOOSE]
