Forenza 175/60-16 on GL 1500
Been lurking, now my turn to post. Received a 175/60-16 Forenza from Don H. on the GWWRA board. (Don if you're here, the tire looks great-many thanks) Mounted it tonight. An easy job, probably didnt take 15 minutes after I figured out that using a big C clamp to keep the dropped in beads together would make it easy. Beads popped out after a couple of cycles of air and some spotting with murphy's oil soap on q-tip. Keeping it minimal for Dynabeads. Looks good, and eyeballing with a square looks like its exactly the same width as the metzler 880 I have on it now. Have the goldwing in the basement and have the plastic pulled off the back. Have friday off, and will pull the trailer hitch and mount tire and do a little other maintainance and then GO FOR A RIDE !

Horseman: thanks for the good words. I should have some pics and a ride report tomorrow night. Have to pull the trailer hitch off to swap tires, then put all the plastic back on - or maybe I'll start off without the bags and back fender just to see what its like.
I think I see how to attach pics to I'll take a few and give it a try.

re: Forenza on GL 1500
Well, its on as of this morning, and I just put about 10 miles or so riding around town and over to the church parking lot to do some figure 8's. Mounting the tire was a breeze: putting all the plastic back on the goldwing was a chore. Honda techs should make 100.00/hr if they work onGoldwings.
I am a little disappointed,in that everyone told me if I put a car tire on "Cleopatra's Barge" (my goldwing) that my testicles would shrivel up and my hair would burst into flames. Did not happen. What did happen is that I can now flat foot the bike, its quieter, the dyna beads seem to work well, and on the whole I like it. What I dont like is that while I will retain my manhood and my hair, I will definitely need hernia surgery if I try to put it on the centerstand, and it does sit up straighter on the sidestand. ( I can fix the centerstand dillema by backing the bike up onto a short piece of 2x8 before I put it up I'll bet) The sidestand is not really that bad: I'll just watch where I park. At this point I am running about 34 lbs in the back tire, I may play with that. Got to go ride some more.
Any other darksiders in NW Indiana ?
Sorry, no pictures yet.

re: gl 1500 tire
OK: lets try the picture deal:
here goes;

That seems to work: here's a view from the rear:

and one more:

I hope these come through OK.
Had a response from psalmist (sorry I accidentally deleted all my messages including your email address) that I am the first to darkside a GL 1500. Not so. I got the idea and the info from the tech section of the GWWRA board. I cannot take the credit.

little info on ct. running 175 60 16 formoza, I had to air up rear shock to 60 lb to get rid of a wiggle, running 38 lbs in tire, 2 up I run 55 lbs in shock.. feels funny at first, but after 1000 miles you will be scrapping the pegs.. gained 300 rpm, really did not effect gas.. on dirt or gravel you wont beleive how stable it feels. good luck, you will like it.. ps much quiter. I just tell the skeptics no problem, I got a new box of bandaids,

re: 1500
Crowsgold: thanks for the tip. I have not played with the shock air pressure at all. I usually run an indicated 50lbs (maybe 51 or 52) and just keep it that way, single or double,trailer, or not. My wife has not been riding lately ( health issues) so its just been me on the G'wing. Have not noticed wiggle unless I get under about 34 lbs, in tire (approx-maybe 1-2 lbs less. For sure at 32 lbs) Been running 38 lbs. and that seemed to eliminate wiggle and "seat of the pants" sensation of transition in tire angle in turns.
