Re: CT on the front
Would not recommend doing that. You want the rounded surface for control.

Nope, NO CT on the Front.. But what you might be asking about is "Double Darkside"???
I run what we are calling Double Darkside.... That is CT on the rear and a REAR Motorcycle Tire on the Front. at least some of of Wing Riders are doing so...
It is awesome... the Rear MT has thicker rubber, thicker sidewalls and will generally just last a ton longer... I have 25,000 miles + on my rear/front tire and it still looks new.
The thing is you have to find a rear MT that is the same size as your front rim...
Luckily that was an east thing for the wing.... I am running a Bridgestone Battlax BT-45.
Not sure if this helps or even answers what you are asking .. but just thought I'd share.

Re: CT on the front
Some of the older harleys have bias square shoulder tires on the front and back. These are touring type bikes

Re: CT on the front
This is a topic of interest to me. I don't see why a car tire on the front would be any different from a car tire on the rear. It's not like the front of the bike is going to lean any farther than the rear; in fact, due to countersteering, I'd imagine the front tire might actually lean less.
It's not like the concept of a square profiled tire on a motorcycle (front or rear) is a new and foreign concept. Any Harley or Indian from the '40s or '50s had tires that resembled car tires. Here's an example.

If there were a car tire available for the front wheel on my bike, I'd definitely give it a try.

Same here. If I could find one I'd run it or at least try it.

RE CT ON THE FRONT
I have been toying with that ideal myself,I know we used to ride on the same as but riding speeds were different as were the roads,it might warrant a cautious try come to think of it that is how I got here.

Look at some 16 inch tires. I bet you will find one that will work. Keep us updated on progress.

CC, this would be a good place to post your picture proof of the "double darkside"
See you out there

Re: CT on the front
Found this while looking for info on using a CT on the front. Seems HD came out with CTs on the front a long time ago. Check out the cover of this book on How to restore your Harley.

That's the best front mounted car tire image I've seen to date. Too bad they didn't give any commentary on the functionality of those tires.

RE CT ON THE FRONT
Those tires were not that good ,they were bad to split. They were not good for speeds of today. They would split around the bead and also in the center of the tread.Oldsmobility wrote:That's the best front mounted car tire image I've seen to date.
