Re: Introduction for new members and refresher for us old timers
I am Bobby, aka "twin1300" or "twin"............Senior Vader (my given darkside name)
I was the first to have a 1300 darkside…..got tired of buying tires every time I turned around and tired of expensive motorcycle tires with no grip.
Married to a wonderful woman of 20 yrs in Oct. I have one son, just turned 14 yrs old (best kart racer I have ever seen) Here’s his helmet cam video of him racing a restricted motor against adult that are unrestricted.
http://videos.streetfire.net/video/b9885d7a-a4ac-4cbf-95e6-9907009a501f.htm
I started riding motorcycles at at the age of 6, flat tracked Bultaco motorcycles till I was 21, started street riding when I was 32 when I bought a wing for daily commuting for two years. Quit riding to play with VW’s, and then 5 years ago got the urge to ride again, bought a 750 spirit, and had it till my wife said, “got get us a bigger bike” WWooohhoooo Look out 1300 C here I come. I traded my 750 in on it in Feb. ’06.
Put my first darkside on Thanksgiving ’06 and will not need another tire till sometime in ’08. I currently have over 14,000 miles on my Darkside and still half the tread is still there.
I have met the nicest and best friends over motorcycling and one VW car tire than you can imagine.

Re: Introduction for new members and refresher for us old timers
Hey yall I'm Leo aka Darkside Rebel.
I put my Kumho on a few months back and have right at 6000 miles on it and it still looks new.
I have been riding since the mid 60s (that's when I climbed on the first street legal bike) and been going ever since. I have riden on all kinds of bikes and worked on most of them as well. I do all of my own repair work from changing tires to total rebuilds and have since the mid 70s.
I rode a 1300 for the first time in 03 (test ride) and new right then I would have one for myself. A month later the stealer called and said my bike was ready. It had 1 mile on it when I left the stealer, in less than 5 miles I had already had her to over 100 mph. She is running better now than when I bought her.
Well that's about enough for now I will see yall inside.
Leo

Hi Twin!
Thanks so much for the invite. Looks like this is going to be a popular site as it is growing by leaps and bounds!
For those who don't know me, I am not a darksider but I am an avid rider. I'm on my second VTX1300C since some cager tried to pass me in my lane on a left curve. That bike was totaled, but fortunately, I wasn't. I had a 750 Shadow for about 6 months (12,000 miles) and traded it in for my second VTX1300C. Which, some woman rear ended while we both sat through an entire red light cycle and she stomped on it when the light changed. Cagers!

Re: Introduction for new members and refresher for us old timers
Evening folks. Buzzard here. I just signed up and will be interested in getting, along with getting ragged from time to time about my ideas, hard engineering data on the Dark Side Experience.
We all know there are pros and cons to riding the Dark Side, but I'm interested in the science of it.
As background, I'm a retired Chief Warrant Officer Army Helicopter Pilot with a degree in Manufacturing Engineering. After retiring from the Army in 1985 I went on the road working for Aircraft Manufacturers such as Boeing, Lockheed, Vought, Learjet and Sikorsky.
I've ridden off and on since 1957 and my wife just got started.
I feel sure, as I gather info on the Dark Side, I'll get thoughtful answers to my questions. I also feel sure I'll get ragged unmersilessly when I ask a stupid one. I know it'll be in fun.
Thanks in advance for putting up with making you think before you shoot at my questions.

Buzzard, You have come to the right place.....No one shoots anybody here for asking questions. We left a board that treated us that way. So, you are safe here.
Do some reading on here and get back with us....on what's un-clear and we will go from there. How's that. We already got some data on here, but the first thing you aught to know....1000 of guys and girls are riding darkside 1000's of miles a month with un-believeable results, twisties and all.

I'm Mark ..... aka Muntz. It's an old nickname given to me by my High School buddies and it stuck.
I'm still a newlywed we just celebrated our one year anniversary a few months ago, and we are trying to have a baby.
She bought my VTX for me as a Valentines Day present. What a woman!!!
My son will be 17 in Feb. He's already asking for a bike.
I'm also a $hit stirrer. If ya goof don't let me find out, b/c I'll stir the pot every chance I get.
If ya don't believe me ask Twin about his empty box.
Going Darkside as soon as I wear this one out.

Hey all, Smokey here Aka Larry, gumbo, lereaux.
First off a little about myself. Been married 21 years January 10, Father of 4 3 girls and a son.
Bought my X the end of July of 06. I went darkside this summer and managed to put 10000 miles on it before I killed the tire. Yeak I know only 10,000 miles wtf. When I say I killed it I mean I literally killed it. From the time I installed it I started murdering it. Them smokey burnouts are so cool. I just finished the Foots mod and now I am in the market for another CT to fit the 1800 rim. Trying to do my homework on it to make sure I get what I want on it.

Re: Introduction for new members and refresher for us old timers
CEROOTH here
30 years young and dumb or old and wise depending on who you talk to
but trying to live life when work doesn't keep me from it.
I have a family full of Marines (father, sister, brother, and mother married a Marine for 9 of the 10 years my old man served) and I was the first one of my siblings to join. One could say that I'm a jack of all trades if you look at the list of jobs/titles I've held, but nothing compares to having your father call you brother. Just to help explain, my old man considers me not only his oldest son, but a brother in arms when I joined the Corps and a brother when I joined the MC we're both in.
Been riding since April '05 and have just under 30k on my 1300s, about 5k of that on the Darkside. I know I need to get out and ride more, but that dang job thang won't let me.
Heading out to Phoenix in May to learn how to fix HD's (someone has to plus I know I'll have job stability doing that
)

SEMPER Fi, Marine
We who are Marines are proud that we will always be called Marines. This past August I went to Parris Island to a grandson's graduation and I too am proud to call him a brother. All Marines who were not currently on active duty were asked to stand. It has been 45 years since I have worn a Marine Uniform. We who proudly served were asked to stand to be Honored. Goosebumps covered me and tears began to whell up in my eyes. I was proud to say I am a Marine. Brother, the Marines don't forget their own.

Re: Introduction for new members and refresher for us old timers
Big Dave here from the north-west. Checkin in - thanks for the invite over here, Twin.
I have about 21k on my 04 1300c, 15.5k on my Arizonian 165R15 car tire. Darkside & dang proud of it!
Looks like a cool place we have here. Thanks Joe for putting this together - looks like you've done a dandy job.

Hi Big Dave! Another familiar face for me. Not being a darksider myself, I am really surprised at how many names I recognize who are darksiders. It's good to see you here. Probably the most friendly and respectful forum I've been on.
