Introduction for new members and refresher for us old timers
Jerry here, Married, 4 kids, 6 grandchildren. Not a darksider yet, but will be as soon as I need a tire.
Got my first bike in '79 a 1975 Yamaha 650 Special. The old shake and bake. Rode it for 3 years.
Stopped riding after selling it (divorce can do strange things). Got my next bike in 2003 (see my bikes in the pictures section). Had the Yamaha for 2 years traded for the BMW (my misses favorite to date) and last Sept traded for the VTX. Gonna keep this one. Need to send the seat to BadX to keep the misses happy, and my rear.
I ride 1200 to 1500 miles a month, unless there is ice or snow on the road, then the misses says no way.
Something about getting killed.
See some familiar names here. Looks like a well thought out site. Thank you for letting me join.

jedison,
When you get ready for your darkside....let us help you. Plenty of guys here who will never go back to a motorcycle tire and know just what to do.

Ok Hi all, I am the other half of Smokey2255, I know nothing about bikes, I just know my behind fits on the back of his just fine. Dont need to know how anything works, just as long as he takes me for rides now and again, unless he is with his buddy Scott, he knows what I mean by this, lol. Anyhow, glad to be here and look forward to reading lots of posts that I will never understand, but will sit beside Larry faithfully and nod my head and smile like I do Cassie

Greetings!
Hey.... Got the link from VTXOA... Just wanted to come and tell you all you're going to crash and die in horrible fiery accidents because of the CT on back... and I'll see ya in hell because my next tire change is going to be a CT as well! I've got plenty of life left on the Metzler (relatively speaking) but I don't anticipate it's going to be long!

Re: Introduction for new members and refresher for us old timers
Thanks for the new forum on our favorite subject. Kinda hoping for this when the Darkside thread on the Big Board disappeared.
I'm Lewis (PopsVTX or just Pops to those that know me). Located in FAR East Texas; almost a coona$$ but still just a jacka$$. Got my 1800C in January 2004 and while I think I ride a lot I still have only about 30K on the scoot. Last bike was stolen out of my driveway about 30 years ago. Once the kids were grown and gone seemed something was missing. Finally figured out it was that empty feeling of not having a bike that needed to be fixed. Wife of almost 34 years decided I was more into riding at every available chance than I was into her; maybe she was partly right. At any rate she is gone and the bike is still here.
Haven't done much to the bike except at a couple of comfort things. The one big plus is the GYTT Darkside tire. Put 14k on Stones and had just got a new set when a nail ruined the back tire. Starting reading about the Darkside and had to give it a try. Found the tire pretty easily but couldn't convince anyone in Longview to install it. Down to buying the Harbour Freight tire changer when a friend told me about "Scooter Pete's" in Tyler, Texas. They did the deed and I have loved the results. 8K and it doesn't even look used. No harder than I am on it the tire may last for years.
Again; thanks for this forum. Hope to learn some great things from you guys as I have from VTXOA over the past couple of years.
Merry Christmas to all and Happy New Year.

New to the site.
Well, I ran across a link to this site and was pleasently surprised to se it really did exist. It is about time we have our own site. Any way, I'm Jeff aka jrhodus from Robertsdale, Alabama. I've been riding on the Darkside for about a year now and have converted two other X riders to join me. We are all very pleased to be a part this tradition.

Glad to have you abord, turn your fellow converts on to the sight too. The more the merrier. And as crew say "Diversity in any group is the lifeblood" ( I probably screwed that all up but ya'll know what I mean) aand the more diverse we are the better we are. All are welcome here dark or not.
Peace
Merry Christmas and a happy prosperous New Year

Thanks for the invite. It is only December 21 and I am already antsy to go out and ride. That is the problem with living in New England. The riding season is so short, you feel robbed. I ride a VTX 1800 R and my wife rides a VTX 1300R. Look forward to riding with you all in the future.

Hey Bear, I got some cousins who live in the Boston area and my uncle lives somewhere in New Hampshire. He was raised in La. and after WWII he moved to Boston to marry his girlfriend whom he met while he was somewhere in the Pacific, I think. They are a little invious that we have good riding weather down here in La. most of the year. I know a couple of them ride so I let them know every now and then when we have good riding weather. Like today.

Name is DitchDiggerB (Bob), from Slidell La. Been riding off and on for about 45 years. Married to a great woman for the last 36 years and if I'm lucky, the next 36 years. Current ride is an 06 1300C. It's still stock except for different grips, pegs, backrest, riding pegs and a 1300R seat.
I don't post a lot but I'll check in everyday.

Hi Cassie! I used to feel the same way you do. Until I rode solo the first time. After that, well, there's just no going back, lol! Please, post once in a while and it doesn't matter if you understand the mechanics as we do have the joke and off topic areas. Plus it would be nice because this place could do with a woman's perspective with all the testosterone swirling around here!
