After a few thousand miles running a DS tire on my 07 Stratoliner I've decided to go back to a MC tire.

There is one reason for my decision: High speed handling.

The GYTT had a tendancy to wobble at high speeds. (90 mph+) Not a death wobble, but a wobble nonetheless.

This may or may not have been caused by the amount of weight used to balance the tire on the MC rim.

I made the choice nonetheless because it's my opinion that any strange handling characteristics at high speeds ...

I've been riding on the Goodrich now about 2000 miles and it still feels kind of wiggly. Especially goin gover uneven surfaces. Makes it harder to control. At first I thought maybe something in the suspension was getting loose. But now I think it's just the tire doing it. Remember the Venture is about 900lbs. so maybe the flatter tire is moving the weight side to side. What do you guys think?

Hey ya'll, I just came over to the darkside last week and am still getting all the bugs worked out to suit me. I have a 2009 Venture S with a little over 13,000 miles on it. Last week I put on a Kumho 165/80-15 on the rear. I started off with 45 psi in it but it felt like it wanted to hunt every imperfection in the road. Put about 600 miles on it this weekend and was about ready to go back to the mc tire when a friend told me to lower the psi. He said he runs 32 in his and doesn't have any of ...

hey to all.i look foward to going to the darkside my problem is finding the right tire size,i am guessing a 165/80/15by hunting all around.the way i see it i ride straight up 80% of the time why not have 80% of the tire on the road,my present tire size is[mv-85b15mc77h] a dab over 6 inch wide 23and a half or so tall the 80 series tire is taller so would reduce my engine speed which would be great any info would be great great site you all take care : the bike is a 90 v max thanks again poppop

We got back from a 4,000 mile ride to Sturgis and beyond and I now have 17,000 miles on this BF Goodrich TA Radial tire with a good amount of tread left. It was really great not having to replace a tire on this trip. With a motorcycle tire on the back of my Venture, just this trip would have used up half of the tread ware and I would be looking for a new tire now. Ain't it great! I really won't be able to guess when I will have to replace this tire, its wearing so good. Anyway, I was just wondering ...

After 1000 miles of trying different PSI and getting use to the Kumho Powerstar tire I am still torn. First of I will say this is not for everyone by any means. If you are a casual rider, long trips, or just a comuter then you may want to concider the dark side. However if you are an agresive rider that loves the sound of the floor boards on the road at 70+mph it may not be for you. I have found my sweet spot as far as PSI in the tire but it is 5lbs over the max sidewall rating. I am a very agresive ...

Looking for information on going DARKSIDE with a 1300 V Star. I have my tire ordered for my 1800F VTX, have also talked two co-workers into going Darkside on their 1300 VTX and they love it. Now another co-worker is looking at going Darkside with his 1300 V Star. Any information would be greatly appreciated so I can pass it on to him.

--

After reading posts here on this website, I became a Darksider. Wow! I'm all excited. I haven't gotten out on the road yet as I just got my tire mounted today. Plus, I decided since I had to move the fender anyway, I would go ahead and have some cracks in it repaired. And since I was going to have it painted, I might as well take off my gas tank and have it painted, too, with some ghost flames. So, more than you needed to know.

Now, I would post pictures but I have never been ...

I was a member of this other forum for quite awhile before I went to the dark side.

I thought I'd start a thread to let other people know what I'd done.

http://www.motorcycle-journal.com/forum/roadliner/33004-dark-side-revisited.html

After much heated debate, the site "admin" closed my thread to further posts.

Imagine that.

Guess I'm the only Yamaha rider posting here, (So far). I ride a 2007 Yamaha Stratoliner 1900 and just went to the dark side about a week ago.

The stock tires on my bike wore out at 7,500 miles. I went with the Goodyear Assurance Triple Tread 215/60 17 on the rear and it fits nicely.

Members of other forums I post on have; Scoffed, Flamed me, Predicted catastrophic failure, etc...

I'ts good to know there are others that aren't afraid to go against the grain.

The one lonely post here (by me) just needed some company, so here it is.

I changed the oil on the mighty Stratoliner today, and what chore.

Why is it that something that looks so easy turns out to be a royal pain in the a$$? This is the second one I've done on this bike and it doesn't seem to be getting any easier. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.
