Since theres not a forum for R III's that run on the darkside, I put some pics in here. I'm running a Toyo Proxxis 245/50VR16 on stock RIII rim, stock tire is 240/50ZR16 and about $300.00 mounted and only good for about 5,000 miles. The Toyo was a little over a hundred bucks, $104 I think and I mounted it myself with the wife's help. I've done about 3,000 miles so far and other than just a little more countersteer in going into a turn, there is no difference in handling, ride is improved, ...

Hey Guys:

just went dark and only after 15 miles. its for me!!!

this and the DS forums on the other Rocket boards made this an easy transition. knew exactly what to expect and was still (pleasantly) surprised. the ride is noticeably smoother than the Metz.

Did have to use more counter steer than usual and at low speed the road did want to dictate to the bike but nothing any average rider could not handle. you just have to pay attention to the road a little more, which we should ...

Hi all, my first post here.

I have an 08 Triumph Rocket III Touring. At 4200 miles the stock Bridgestone delaminated and would not hold air.

I was planning on going dark at some point later on, but the time came early.

I had a General Altimax HP, 205/60/16 installed. Several friends have this tire on their Valks.

After 500 miles or so I have come to like the darkside. I am currently running at 38psi.

I am still getting accustomed to the handing ...

This is an update on my current GoodYear Eagle F1 245/50R16 tire:

Install Date: May 2008

Report Date: August 16 2008 roughly 3 months since assimilation by the force

Poundage: ~ 29 PSI

There has been a bit of work done to this bike, and the stock MCT could not handle the RWHP that this thing was making, 170+. As well as the RWHP, it was running a Neville Lush Racing lock-up clutch that would make the MCT spin up with the lightest ...

I finally found a local shop with a Potenza G009 in a 225/60, it was the shorter of the three I was looking for. My first choice was a 235/60, then a 225/65 - but I am actually happier with the 225/60 as it's narrow (but still wide 8.5 inch SW) and over an inch taller than the stock 240/50.

I took some pictures to post, except the treo phone isn't synching properly right now.

I made the decision yesterday to switch over to a Goodyear Eagle 245/50 R16 on my R3 and when a friend of mine came over I sold him the Metzler I had stashed. Now after I made the decision and mentioned it to a couple of bike mechs, they about ripped me a new one. I know the old bias ply tires that Harley put on their early dressers sucked in the corners, you tended to fall off the edge of the tread in corners. I really dont get into the twisties a lot but I do corner hard every now and then. ...
