Put a 195/65-15 General Altimax HP. Had trouble getting the bead to set with a tube on my spoked rims from the classic so I ordered a 900 Custom (cast) rim from ebay and got it to seat finally. About 100 lbs and sitting in the sun, 2 beers later and it was good to go. So excited, have about 500 miles on it and love it. Can't believe that more people don't do this but, whatever, I like it and I am done spending $500 a year for rear tires. Still haven't got to play in the rain yet but definitely ...

I feel this may be as opinionated, as going to the DarkSide, with the rest of the world. I would like some other people ideas.

I have a 2000 Kawasaki Drifter 1500, it orignally had 150/80-16 on the rear, but I had decided on a bridgestone G019 195/55-16 to replace it with. Only thing I'm not sure about, is, to seal...to go tubless... or to just go with a tube. Then again I'm guessing a motorcycle tube in a car tire?

I'm a new darksider and just finished my road test with the CT. The test was 7000 km long, pulling a trailer half of it and my tire doesn't show any wear( I usually get 12000 km per tire). I put it through the twisties while riding two up going down Iron Mnt. in South Dakota and dragged the boards every chance I had. The extra traction really helped while driving through the rain and hail, not to mention the muddy roads at the camp ground.

I really like the look ...

Which leads me to the question, How much might I expect the section width of the tire to change when mounted to wheel? I am hoping that the section width of the tire will be significantly narrower when mounted to the wheel, or I will need to try a different size tire, or modify the swing arm.
Well, I got the wheel back yesterday and spent most of the night working on getting the wheel and tire back on the bike. It did require some minor modifications to the swing arm. I heated the drive shaft housing with propane and slowly worked at the area I needed the clearance in, with a hammer. It worked out good and didnt take to long. I never got the metal in that area hot enough to glow, just hot enough to bend a little easier. I also had to notch the right side of the swing arm. I used spray ...

Hi, I have over 4000 miles on my tire now and love it.

I did have to do some modding to fit the 225/60 on my V2K though. My suggestion would be to use a 215/60 and this would not be necessary. Unfortunately, the Z-rated tire doesn't come in that size so you have to use the lower rated tires, at least in the Fuzion brand. I have heard of at least one GYTT in 225/60 that fit without rubbing but it isn't a Z either. I like the 225 because the mpg is better and the speedo is almost accurate ...

Building a ZX1400 powered reverse trike and am hoping to put a car tire on the rear rim. Vehicle will corner with zero lean.

Seems the closest thing readily available is a 205/50 17 which is quite a bit wider then the applicable bike tire at 190/50-ZR17.

Do the tire beads match up? Anything else I should be thinking about?

Also...do these bikes ever seem to have bearing issues? This application will test the bearings to the max.

Comments, thoughts would be appreciated.

Im usually riding 2 up, sometimes with a trailer behind as well.

Last fall I rode all the way to Sturgis ( for tires... ....was awsome....but ...

Hi every one I have been reading the forum here for a few weeks now and would like to move over to the darkside. I have a 99 Nomad and a little unsure about what tire I should put on it. I have looked at the tire chart on the cartire site. But if I remember right the only Vulcan was an 06 so I am wondering if the same tire will fit on the 99. I am looking at 5 tires right now the Federal SS-595 - 195/55r16

Bridgestone GO19 same size and the TOYO Proxes Tl-R same size Then the TOYO Proxes Ti-R ...

I'm in the Houston area. I have a 2000 Vulcan Nomad 1500FI. The rear wheel is 3.5"W. I bought a Nomad 1600 swing arm and wheel to instal a CT. The 1600 wheel is 4.5"W. I am looking at tires now. I think I will go with a Goodyear, Assurance Tripple Tread, 205 60R 16, or a Dunlop, SP 5000, Symetrical, 195 60R 16. Any good advice appreciated. I was really interested in Toyo Vanco 6 185 75R 16, but don

Hi everyone, I have a couple questions regarding my 04' vn2000. 1. What is the brand/size/air pressure for the rear tire are you all using right now? 2. What are you doing for your front tire?

I'm putting on new tires over the next month, and any feedback would be most appreciated.

Thanks,

Hey all,
I'm trying to find out if anyone has mounted a car tire on a 2004 Vulcan Classic 1500 without any problems. So far the tire that I've found is the closest match is a Dunlop Sport SP5000 195/60-16, the origonal being a 150/80-16 and that only having 'bout 5/8" clearance to the swing arm and driveshaft tube. I'd give it a go if the damn tire wasn't over $150 but I don't want to waste the bucks if it ain't gonna work, anyone.....Mike

There are other albums which interest me, but you all know how to back out and find them I bet.

The pics you will see firt are the 1600 Nomad just before it went DS. And as it went DS.

The tire is a Dunlop Sport Sp 5000 in 195/60/R16.

It took a few tries to seat the bead, but the psi never went over 51 pounds. I changed it by hand, with a old apple crate and ...
