In an neverending effort to control every aspect of our live the politicians have gained another win over freedom and made it a law that if you want a motorcycle license you have to take a state approved motorcycle safety course. You no longer have a free choice to do so.

I spoke to Cathy, the owner of THE MOTORCYCLE SCHOOL in San Antonio, she expressed her concern that the attitude of her customers would go from, Happy to be Here to I'm pissed that I have to be here.

Both wheels side by side

The old 165r15 on the bike

The new and improved 205/65/16 Michelin HydraEdge Foots Mod

Nice shiny 1800C wheel, rotor and black caliper...what to do with the front caliper?!?

I only got about 300 miles on it now, but I will say that over the 165r15 I seem to have a better ...

Well, I have finally had it up to my eyebrows with the drivers here in Central Florida. Yesterday, while driving to church for a meeting, I had a jerk follow me around the lakefront glued to my tailpipe. I could tell that he was just in a hurry and didn't want to do the 25 mph speed limit. Probably thought he could push me along. Really got under my skin, but I let it go and just continued on. This crap happens about once a week and I'm pretty used to it.

So, today, as I was leaving work ...

Here's the rear view of my Honda Reflex scooter with a 145/70R12 car tire.

Sitting next to it is my latest project; A Samsonite 22 inch hard side suitcase that is being converted into a detachable top case. It has a LED brake light like that used for a truck/trailer and some reflective red tape. The other picture is a side by side comparison of the Bridgestone-Hoop and the Federal all season tire.

After a few thousand miles running a DS tire on my 07 Stratoliner I've decided to go back to a MC tire.

There is one reason for my decision: High speed handling.

The GYTT had a tendancy to wobble at high speeds. (90 mph+) Not a death wobble, but a wobble nonetheless.

This may or may not have been caused by the amount of weight used to balance the tire on the MC rim.

I made the choice nonetheless because it's my opinion that any strange handling characteristics at high speeds ...

It would probably be a good thing if both sides of the car tire debate sat this one out. That question has been debated ad nauseum, and this thread is not about that. Thank you for your restraint.

Ok, at 18,415 I installed a Goodyear Triple Tred car tire on my N. In those 18,415, I had gone through 3 bike tires. One stock Dunny (which admittedly is a POS and probably shouldn't be counted). One 200/60 Metz, and one 180/70 Metz. That's an average of 6,000 miles per tire. I kept 38 in the Dunny, ...

How is everyone been around here? I have a question that has me a little confused. I have a wobble at high speeds and can't figure out the problem. I have a new metz on front, alls-balls, progressives in front and back with new bushings, and Douglas 205 on rear. I think that I narrowed it down to my Douglas might not be balanced any more, it might need replaced (down to wear bars) or my shocks are too stiff (412 HD). I notice it more when riding solo. I need all the tips that I can get ...

Looking at Trailers. See some with just the rails. Looks like dirt bike trailers, hold 3. Not sure how to get a big cruiser on these.

See some platform trailers, flatbeds, with a front tire lock. Some of these trailers don't look like htey have springs. Thinking springs might be necessary for long trips.

I've been riding on the Goodrich now about 2000 miles and it still feels kind of wiggly. Especially goin gover uneven surfaces. Makes it harder to control. At first I thought maybe something in the suspension was getting loose. But now I think it's just the tire doing it. Remember the Venture is about 900lbs. so maybe the flatter tire is moving the weight side to side. What do you guys think?

Hello everyone. I'm finally making the jump to the Darkside. I just ordered my tire online and have a friend that's going to mount it for me when it comes in. I ordered a "Kumho Power Star 758 - 165/80/15".

My stock tire is a Dunlop D404 170/80/15... and it does not last but maybe 5000 miles (guestimation since I never thought to record the mileage when I replaced it)

Anyway, Does anyone else currently use the Kumho Power Star ...

Dark Side Tire Mod

These are the general instructions on how to replace a motorcycle tire with a car tire on a Honda VT1100C14 (2004 Honda Spirit 1100). I'll go through the step by step. Later on in this thread I can add some color and detail to the story.

Note that we tried to install a Faulken 205/65/15 and it the bead would never seat. You will see in the photos we started off with a wide tire, and the tire in the final photo is different. We ended up installing a Kumono 165/65/15. ...

Help with Wifes Van - Please

O.K., I'm at wits end and I need help. My wifes van is a 1999 GMC Safari 4.3 litre v-6. It has about 135,000 miles on it. The issue that I am having with it is that the crankcase will empty oil into the cooling system. Usually takes 300-600 miles. In diagnosing this, I have drained and flushed the cooling system and put a fresh oil change on it and 300-600 miles later, I have put three to four quarts of oil in the crankcase and the cooling system is full of oil.

Now, there is no water in ...

Hey ya'll, I just came over to the darkside last week and am still getting all the bugs worked out to suit me. I have a 2009 Venture S with a little over 13,000 miles on it. Last week I put on a Kumho 165/80-15 on the rear. I started off with 45 psi in it but it felt like it wanted to hunt every imperfection in the road. Put about 600 miles on it this weekend and was about ready to go back to the mc tire when a friend told me to lower the psi. He said he runs 32 in his and doesn't have any of ...

Well, I am offically "in" the Dark(side) now.

I have 2,000 miles on my Goodyear TT. There are still a couple of small things to work out, but I am here to stay for sure.

For the breakin run my son went with me to the hill country of west Texas. We did 400 miles of highway (some in the rain) getting there and back. 800 miles was out in the back country on every twisted road we could find. We ran out of pavement twice and spooked more than a few deer.

First, I started with ...

Had the General Altimax HP 185/65/15 put on Tuesday. Have not been able to take ride until today. I really like the new ride alot so far. I think going from the 80 to 65 has help with take offs. If any increase in rpm's, it is very small and barely noticable at all. Seems to have helped at around 55 to 60 when in 5th gear. Use to lerch a little when in 5th gear. Starting off at 35 psi. Noticed just a small amount of loosness in a few curves in 2nd gear. Going to increase psi by 2lb's until I ...
